I am incredibly excited to FINALLY launch a new webpage.
Before we start: Please come find me on Instagram! I would love to connect and see your photography. The links to all my social media pages may be found on the upper right side of this page.
When I started my photo business back in 2005 it was under the moniker Little Red Dog Studios.
Despite having been actively involved with photography since I was 15, acquiring a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography (with 3.9 GPA), winning every photo contest I entered and working under the tutelage of a master commercial photographer (Todd Trice) I still didn’t consider myself a “photographer”. Attaching my name to my business felt fraudulent.
Insecurity is something that all of us struggle with, whether it be in our work or personal lives.
For the past 10 years I have taken on many MANY jobs I felt under-qualified for.
Facing my fears and insecurities with my creativity and photography has done so much more than expand my client base. With each challenge approached, I sense the creative part of me creaking open just a little more.
It’s pretty incredible how facing our fears in the smallest of ways can have a major impact on how we approach our everyday lives.
Creativity, in any form, is crucial to our wellbeing.
“There’s a link between creativity and positive emotions and, ultimately, happiness. Researchers have found that people are more likely to have a creative breakthrough if they were happy the day before. Creativity is less likely to be present with negative emotions such as fear, anger, sadness, and anxiety; it is positively associated with positive emotions such as joy, love, and curiosity.” – Positivity, by Barbara L. Fredrickson, Ph. D.
These days, so many people who claim that they “aren’t creative” are the same people using their smartphones as cameras and Instagram as their own curated gallery.
Newsflash: If you have ever taken a photo on your cell phone and uploaded it to social media, congrats, you have completed an act of creativity.
I am on the constant quest for further creative expansion.
Perhaps you are too?
If exploring creativity, even on the teensiest level is of interest to you please be sure to include your email in the pop-up on the main page. Through emails and this website I will be presenting all kinds of tutorials, recommendations and creative inspiration to help guide you along the path of creative expansion.
My photography portfolios are representative of the type of work I’d like to do more of. In an effort to display my own specific photographic point of view, the images I present are not just client-based photographs but also outtakes, personal photo projects and images that have meaning to me.
This new site format allows me to easily update with new projects which means I will be adding much more soon.
So here I confidently bring you www.shannonlocker.com. To view my work head up to the top of the page and click on “Portfolio”.
Today I am so proud to attach my name to my photography and creative endeavors. Thank you for reading!
